The 33rd International tourist fair HOLIDAY&SPA EXPO has ended. It was held from 11th to 13th February 2016 under the patronage of the Ministry of tourism and in partnership with Municipality of Sofia, BTCH, BHRA, BATA, BUBSPA, ABTTA and Sofia Tourist Council in Inter Expo Center.
The largest tourist event in Bulgaria was opened by the minister of the tourism Ms. Nikolina Angelkova.
The efforts, which the state, the municipalities and the business are attempting for the development of the tourism are consequent and the larger amount of participants this year is showing it. “For first time in 2016 we exceeded the limits of more than 1 billion leva profits” commented the minister. During the last year Bulgaria was visited by 7 million tourists, over 21 million nights, which 8 million of them were from Bulgarian citizens. This is showing that we must work harder to motivate the domestic tourism.
In the opening of HOLIDAY&SPA EXPO, participated also the mayor of Sofia Ms. Yordanka Fandakova, accenting that in 2015 Sofia, had hosted 10% more tourist or 1,8 million people visited Sofia.
In the exhibition HOLIDAY&SPA EXPO 2016 participated 390 organizations, companies and hotels from Bulgaria and 18 more countries.
Presented with National stands were: Ministry of Tourism – Bulgaria; Ministry of culture and tourism – Turkey; National Tourist organization – Serbia; Agency for promotion and support of tourism – FYR Macedonia; Ministry of tourism – Indonesia; Ministry of tourism – Hungary; Morocco National Tourist Office; Tourism Board – Cuba; Tourist Board and Convention Bureau Zagreb – Croatia; Department of National Policy, Interregional Relations And Tourism of Moscow city – Russia. 40 tour operators, hotels and Municipalities from Greece, tour operators and agencies from Italy, Spain, Poland, USA, Czech Republic, Portugal, Romania and 100 hotels from Turkey.
Holiday & SPA EXPO is the largest tourist forum in Bulgaria, designed for professionals and large public.
The exhibition keeps its growing and this year took 7200 sq.m;
Representatives of the business – 3000; Visitors 20 000.
This year the slogan of the exhibition “CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS FOR THE TOURISM”, motivated the organizers to give priority to the hopes and the possibilities for professional development of the young people in the branch.
The idea of PRIM EXPO – Tourism bestows hope!, united the guests of the night – participants and representatives of the tourist business from Bulgaria and abroad in the name of the future. The first charity auction also succeeded and the donators provided internships, holiday, free subscriptions and 1760 leva for two students from the vocational school for tourism “Mihalki Georgiev” – Vidin.
Traditional awards for the participants in the 33rd edition of International tourist fair HOLIDAY&SPA EXPO, were also handed by the organizer of the forum PRIM EXPO at the cocktail on 12th February in Sofia Hotel Balkan.
